Busy

It's damned near four in the afternoon, and I'm just now getting to writing a post. Today's been a blur, with a deposition, calls, a lunch meeting, more calls, two new lawsuits, etc., etc.

I'm starting to develop a deep resentment toward "busy", which is how we describe ourselves almost reflexively when someone asks how things are going. It's the bane of our age.

I can hear a drop-in client out in my lobby bugging staff when they should be working. I can't bear the thought of going out there and having her play time vampire to me as I flail my way to my last call here in a few minutes. She's clearly not busy.

With no time to write, I figure I'll just post a photo update on the party barn. A couple weeks back we had insulation blown throughout, so the place is one big beer cooler. Every wonder what $20k worth of foam looks like?

Wonder no more.

Next George and Peg decided the ceiling needed to be black. I'm not sure why, but that was the consensus and now, indeed, it's as black as black can be.

With ceiling painting mostly complete, the sheet rock guy, Jonathan, showed up late last week and started hanging sheet rock inside. We're not quite dried in yet, with one wall open to the south, but I suppose it'll be okay.

Meanwhile, Dean and Slane, who spent the week there while we worked here in PC, plot their escape in the Gator. Dean will work the pedals while Slane steers.

The mental image of Slane steering through the gate brings up from memory the great SNL skits featuring Toonces, the cat who can drive a car.

Time for one quick call ahead of my next scheduled call. God, how I despise being "busy".
