Anything But the News

We had some depositions cancel next week, and decided to drive to Texas to see the folks for a couple days. With the country aflame with Covid, we need to go about this carefully--Dad is 81, Mom is 76 for a few more days, and neither is in very good health.

We had planned to fly, but a line of nasty weather and the threat of snow and ice on the trip home caused us to load up the Honda instead.

It's a long drive from Perry, so we picked a stopping point 8 hours along, in Natchez. I've never been, so it's all a new adventure. We're staying at Choctaw Hall, an 1836 antebellum mansion decorated to the nines by David, our host. Truly, it's the nicest place I've ever slept, or tried to sleep on account of the screaming heartburn that kept me up half the night. I should know better than to drink beer and eat fried oysters until my eyes roll back in my head.

Heading out in a few minutes for the next leg, so I'll just leave this with some photos from last night. Natchez is beautiful, but P makes it even more so.
