Here We Go Again

Well the wind is blowin' harder now

50 knots or there about

There's white caps on the ocean

And I am watchin for water spouts

-Jimmy Buffett

Woke up this morning with my social media news feed filled with talk of the next big storm forecast to hit somewhere between 407 and Wyldswood on Thursday.

All of these have the potential to wreck either place (but likely not both), but the threat to Wyldswood appears greater, at least as of now. The models have gotten so much better over time that it seems a fair bet that this thing's going to come ashore somewhere in the Big Bend, likely as a strong Cat 4. That'd be three hurricanes rolling over our poor little farm in thirteen months. TayCo hadn't seen a major hurricane for something like a century before that. Lucky us.

Meanwhile, I'm nursing half a tooth after my temporary crown fell out while I was flying the Columbia up the Shenandoah Valley on Friday night. My dentist had installed the crown only the day before. My confidence is a little shaken. Meanwhile, I can't find a dentist here who will fix the crown--it seems most have a waitlist. I may have to kill an entire day and drive all the way to Rochester. Good grief. At least it isn't terribly painful, or at least not yet.

I was supposed to fly back to Florida on Tuesday night for an in-person hearing on Wednesday, but in light of my tooth and the impending storm I've asked to do it by Zoom. We'll see if the judge shows a little grace.

It's cool and drizzly in Corning this morning, barely sixty degrees and forecast not to get much warmer over the course of the day. A perfect fall scene.

Eight calls scheduled today for my sins. Time to lean back into work.
